Just a Quirk?

They called a change in wind direction “a quirk of nature”. How many times have the enemies of Israel said the same thing? Those who despise Israel’s birthright never seem to learn.

Your “quirk of nature” is the Living God.

The direction of the wind not only thwarted the kites, but also blew copious amounts of Israeli tear gas and smoke from the burning tires toward the protesters, chasing many away.

Zeal

Zeal…

From it comes willingness to learn. Complacent curiosity cannot produce one spark such as that raging fire of zeal.

Zeal sets the brand. It causes an indelible mark on the soul. A wisp of smoke rises up, and the man will never be the same.

Complacency can cause religion; the result of a casual stroll through truth. But zeal is a consuming fire. Mindless of himself, the man with zeal exudes true religion. Helplessly in love with the God who made him, he cares nothing for what men think.

Let us look around in our things. If we have misplaced zeal let us be frantically zealous to search for it and find it again. Isn’t the honor of Christ within us worthy of all we have?

The reward? The reward is the blazing presence of Christ.

Crowd Control

They came in among them, but they did not know the God who gave the Christians their religion. So they practiced the words. They mimicked the faithful; for as their eyes could only see Man, the things of Man they used for their advantage.

They rose to powerful position, still not knowing the God of the Christians. They were just like Simon the magician. They exercised the power of Man’s laws of violence over as many men as they could gather. Imprisonment, torture and death were the tools of their ungodly trade.

They did not see themselves equal to the Pharisees who crucified Christ. No, in their mind they were exempt from the same judgment. They knew nothing of Holy, but they will.

1200 years after the birth of Christianity we can see history tell us what would have come if Simon had gotten his way.

But tattletales and spies are not enough to rule the masses. It is better to teach the children to be politically correct. They will rule their parents. And the devil will have his way.

Do you know the God behind the religion of the faithful? Or are you just a pawn of rulers like them; Control the mind and you have the man?

Tear Your Hearts

Listening with all our might, we can hear it. The key is “All”.

“O blessed Spirit, let us hear the death-cries of Jesus, and our hearts shall be rent even as men rend their vestures in the day of lamentation.” (Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening)

Stiff Necked Children

You ask. You suggest. You try to reason. No success. But the matter is urgent and learning is not up for debate.

The mind is not willing. The heart is not open to correction. The child has decided to disobey.

So out of kindness, you decide to push the back of his head to make him move (any obedience is better than none). He hardens his neck against your hand, pushing his body against your will.

For the moment, he becomes a stiff necked child.

I admit to the Lord that I am useless without his will in my heart. I ask for his leadership. Then, when a moment comes to do what is right I choose my own direction. Without saying a word I become a stiff necked child.

What is the meaning of Grace?

Stay with apathy. Stay with superstition. Stay with your own brand of religious ideals. Laugh at what is Holy. Mock sincerity. Consider godly righteousness as a myth. Leave the Bible in the room of “ignoring”. Be critical of those who try to obey. Receive gossip about Christians and pass it on with a joyous mouth.

What does stiff necked mean?

Who are we that God should even care about us, a stiff necked brood of snakes? Yet he suffered among us the most brutal life and death to redeem us as his.

Give the gospel another opportunity.

Slow Dance with a Dead Body

It’s a really weird title, isn’t it. It draws a mental picture that probably shouldn’t be in our head. But think about the following.

Don’t we get kind of miffed if when we talk to someone they absolutely ignore us? And what if someone came to you like this: looking at the ground they mutter your name numerous times, appeal to you to listen to them, then repeat those two actions 20 times. At some point you just give up listening, turn away, and leave them as they are. It’s not that you despise them, you despise what they’re doing.

Do you think the Lord Jesus is different then we are about this? Effective prayer is real conversation. Ritualistic words are pretty much useless. Either he is our friend or he is just God.
