“Here We Go Again.”

Every time I read the Bible, I come to those certain places that give me reason to pause. Sometimes I overlook the difficulty and read on anyway. But the older I get the less capable but I am of overlooking the difficulty without taking a moment to prepare myself for what comes next.

The difficulty is this:
God delivers Life to man in a certain place and time. It is always well received, as it should be. But not long after, evil summons its strength to come and eradicate the work of God.

It is lovely to read the joy God has sent to earth. It has become almost unbearable to witness the response of evil Man. Evidently this continual sequence of events is necessary in this godless world. Perhaps, so is my response.

Does anyone else feel this way?

For Today

Oh, Israel.  You who are called to bear His Holy name.  You are he who wrestles with God.  You wrestle against the things that wrestle against your Lord.  And inside you are those things that wrestle against Him.  You blessed ones who wake to engage in the holy war of life and death, of suffering and great peace, and of the dispute between truth and lies.

May the blessings of the Living God fall on you today.  May his desire to create a people separate to himself become your singular and most important desire.  May your hands be restrained to destroy the work that he is doing within you.  And may your day provide the great bounty that is due His Holy name.

Let our souls resound in unison.   May we give consent to He who lives forever.  May we be willing to become his great desire, which he sealed in Holy Blood for His Holy name’s sake.

Let us go to him.  Let us willingly fill up in His body the suffering that caused his Glory before the Holy Father.  Let our doings proclaim Him worthy to be King.

His name is Jesus.  He is greater forever than the sum of Man’s Imagination.  He is Glory, Honor, Righteousness, Peace, Joy, Mercy, Justice, and the immeasurably  great Grace of the Living God.  Honor His Holy name.

Amen.

Bring Out the Will

Where is the astounding fruit of the Most High God among us?  It is hidden in our unwillingness to obey.  It is as if we have secreted His Holy Words into the thicket of our rebellion.

Too many have hidden His treasure away, as if a thief might come and steal their riches.  As a result, many stand guard at their doorway; judging others as they perceive from their own darkness.  Where is the freely flowing Gospel of Peace and Joy?  Where is their vial of Living Water?

Who will go retrieve the Holy things he contains?  Who will reach into his thorny will and bring his obedience out of hiding?  Who will bloody his own hands to retrieve what is best for all?  Who dares “become”, that he might lead his siblings in Christ to what is best?

What is the will of a man in Christ Jesus?  What power does it receive if it is brought out of hiding?  What blessings are the Holy Lord of Life willing to bestow on the man who diligently gives Him what is rightfully His?  As obedience comes, so the prosperity of God appears.

In case my words are not clear enough to provoke specific action, let us read what the Lord has spoken to all who desire to serve Him.  Let us remember: the generation that serves the Lord with faithfulness, is the generation that passes down what is good and valuable before His Holy Face.  It is the blessing of their “children” to inhabit the better land.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 5)

Good Works Thief

There are those who steal the good works of others.  They simply put their name in the place of the originator.  They look for reward from those who are able to give.  And they are determined to excel at any cost.  By this they prove they are weak and useless.

There are of course victims to this crime.  The hard work they have done is wasted on those who do not work.

There is a word for both the perpetrator and the victim.

To the perpetrator it is said, “Those who do not work will not eat.”  You may eat well enough now, but there is a coming banquet from which you are not worthy to partake.  Either get busy and provide your own wealth, or humble yourself and accept your proper lowly position.

To the victim it is said, “Do good to those who hate you and spitefuly use you.  Bless them that they may receive.  If they are weak then bolster them with your strength.  Bless and do not curse.  Add to the Lord’s great bounty so many good works that their theft is unnoticed.”

May the name of the Lord God Almighty prosper in his Holy Son.  And may all the Lord’s people reach out to receive the strength of Eternity.

Blessings Aren’t Always a Miracle.

In my work I often ask the Lord to bless certain things.  The intent is that I might render my employer a good service.  Much like the floating Axe head story.  But often His response is curious, “no”.  Then he whispers to me that to bless the company is to bless its owners.  If they are in His will, then the blessing will flow.  But all things such are done by a wise God.  He alone knows how to redeem.  The strain of this world will pull and pull.  Things break down.  Stresses continue to come.  But He alone knows the heart.  “It is enough that My people work earnestly and with a full heart.  The blessings come as I direct.”

By His Grace.
